What You Need:
2 T unsalted butter, melted and divided
1/2 C self rising flour
2 T cold unsalted butter, cut into 12 pieces
3 1/2 T cold heavy whipping cream
How to Make It:
Set the oven temperature to 450 degrees and allow the oven to heat while making the biscuit dough.
Brush 1 T of the melted butter over a 6 in. square area on a baking sheet and set aside.
Sift the flour into a mixing bow.
Place the butter pieces into the flour and cut the butter in using a fork until the remaining lumps are no larger than a pea.
Sprinkle the cold whipping cream over the flour mixture.
Toss with a fork just until the dough begins to hold together.
If necessary an additional 1/2 T of whipping cream can be used.
Flour your hands and knead the dough 6 times while still in the bowl.
Lightly flour a cutting board and place the dough on the flour.
Form the dough into a rectangle about 1/2 in. thick on the cutting board.
Use a heart shaped cookie cutter and cut out 3 to 4 biscuits.
Place the biscuits on the butter prepared baking sheet.
Bake 10 minutes or until a golden brown.
Use the remaining melted butter to brush the tops of the biscuits while they are still warm.

Be sure to cut the butter into pieces and then return them to the refrigerator until they are cold. This will help produce a flaky biscuit when they are baked. When adding liquid to biscuit dough, sprinkle it over the dough instead of dumping it into the flour. Toss the dough with a fork. This will give the flour a chance to absorb the liquid giving you moist dough instead of a wet mess.
